Natural Remedy for Ear Infections

10 Feb

A lot of babies suffer from reoccurring ear infections. One of the main reason for this is an allergic reaction to food example dairy-in the formula or from milk products , soy products, wheat products  to list a few. Babies can also get ear infection when they are teething. The stress caused by teething lowers their immune system causing them to pick up infections easily. Most dr will prescribe antibiotic or surgery in the case of reoccurring ear infections.  While antibiotics make help in the short-term, they become useless after a while. To  makes matters worst,  antibiotics removes all the good bacteria from the stomach and leave the bad ones thus weakening the system.

Garlic has the same properties as antibiotics without the side effects. It is antiviral and antibacterial.  Make your own garlic oil. Pour some olive oil over some crush cloves of garlic. Make sure the garlic is cover in oil. Either allow garlic to sweep into the oil over a few days or gently warm the oil and garlic for a few minutes. Normally you would drop the warm garlic oil into the ears,  however for babies you can rub the oil on the babies feet over night. It works just as well. For older children or adults, drop 1-2 drops of garlic oil into ear. Garlic will normally clean up infection in about 2  days -3 days tops. I never used antibiotics on my baby just garlic.

Tea tree oil with lavender is also good for ear infections. Oil must be diluted before using. Drop 1-2 drops of each oil in a container and add 1-2 tablespoon of olive oil or a suitable carrier oil. Apply the oil mixture behind the ears and on the feet 2-3 times a day. If you have an essential oil diffuser, you can also add the oils to the diffuser. Make sure to watch that the oils are not too strong to not irritate baby’s skin.
